About the Association

The Markus Vallazza Artists’ Archive Association was founded to preserve and research the artistic legacy of Markus Vallazza (1936–2019) and make it accessible to a broad public. Vallazza was one of South Tyrol’s most influential artistic figures—a perceptive draughtsman, etcher and thinker whose work had an impact far beyond the region. His oeuvre is marked by an intensive engagement with literature, philosophy and contemporary history. The Association aims to systematically archive and document Vallazza’s extensive body of work and to keep it alive through exhibitions, publications and educational programmes. We see ourselves not only as an archive in the traditional sense, but also as a place of inspiration, encounter and critical engagement with art and society. The Association works closely with experts in art history, museums, universities and the wider public to secure a long-term future for Vallazza’s work.
